October 17: Links of the Day

Real estate links

Home sales in St. Louis went up 8 percent year over year in August, according to the St. Louis Fed, but that’s less than the 14 percent and 11 percent increases from the previous two quarters.

- A new provision coming January 1 to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act should give buyers and sellers a sense of urgency to close before the end of the year.

- The housing recovery seems to still be trending positively, but the number of submitted offers has definitely cooled from its spring and summer pace.

-The Cardinals let Game 5 of the NLCS slip away. (But at least they’ll hopefully get to clinch a pennant on their home turf come Friday.)

- Jim Parrott, owner of Farotto’s Restaurant and supposedly the creator of St. Louis-style pizza, passed away this week.

- With the federal government back up and running, the Gateway Arch and old Courthouse are also returning to normal hours today.

The staff and patients at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis County have put together a pretty adorable St. Louis Cardinals rally video.
