- Applications for purchase loans jumped to a seasonally adjusted 6 percent for the week ending Nov. 15 compared to the previous week but were down 3 percent on an annual basis.  

- Lending experts warn that buyers who make cash deposits to their checking accounts that don't come from payroll checks or income tax refunds during the processing of a mortgage will probably face delays in closing.

- Although it might not equal faster job growth, a recent report by the U.S. Conference of Mayors predicts the St. Louis region's economy will grow 2.2 percent this year, placing it in the top fifth of the country's 363 metro areas.
